Alzheimer’s disease is no laughing matter. I won’t quote the grim statistics, but I will share that more and more young people — ie: people my age — are dealing with their parents who have developed the disease. The worst part about developing Alzheimer’s disease is there is no cure.
So imagine my surprise when I learned that one of Hollywood’s funny men, Seth Rogen, and his brilliantly talented wife, Lauren Miller, along with her brother, Dan Miller, are impressed about Blondes vs. Brunettes and what’s it’s doing to help connect with younger people and inform them about the disease. Sadly, Lauren and Dan’s mother is suffering from early onset Alzheimer’s. Like me and Sister K, they also lost their grandparents to the disease. In effort to raise awareness of the disease among young people (where have I heard this before??) they decided to organize an event called Hilarity for Charity.
Sister K and I were invited to attend the first annual show in Los Angeles. It was amazing! Some of today’s best and hottest performers like Bruno Mars, Paul Rudd, Aziz Ansari, Judd Apatow, Tenacious D, Patton Oswalt, DJ Pauly D, Charlyne Yi, Hannibal Buress, & Ty Burell from Modern Family were there to help put on a fantastic show. H4C raised more than $300,000 for the Alzheimer’s Association. How incredible is that?! I felt so privileged to attend and am already looking forward to next year.
