Yo-Ho-Ho and A Bottle of Milk

As much as we tried to get B to call J “Jack” that just didn’t happen. So we have a not-so-little Johnny on our hands. I batted around a few ideas and kept coming back to a non-traditional idea: a Johnny Cupcake theme. At first thought it doesn’t sound like a typical 1st birthday, but on second thought cupcakes, pirates and plaid screams little boy to me! Since he has a Thanksgiving birthday and no friends of his own (poor second child syndrome), I had all the family over to celebrate. I had the DVD set of Pirates of the Caribbean for the kids, kept the Cupcake wine flowing for the adults, and brought in a face-painter for some added entertainment. It was arrrrguably the best pirate party ever. I think the birthday boy had fun, too!

this outfit is what got my creative juices flowing.

the invitations were designed by a mom from my playgroup

these were a quickly created, costed me little and looked great

the plaid cupcakes & custom pirate photo toppers added the perfect touch!
